Usually more than half of the competitors come from overseas. One of the reasons so many overseas competitors come to the Ironman NZ is because you don't have to qualify to start, and there are 70 Kona slots available. The other reason so many people come from overseas is the course. The swim is an out and back course in Lake Taupo, the 180k bike is a two lap course, gently undulating through spectacular scenery, and the run also a two lap course is fast and flat. Package DetailsThe packages offered in Taupo are the same as in Nelson except for the following points.
Kiwivelo CarDepending on numbers, there probably won't be a car provided in Taupo.
Weekend TripsThere will still be trips organised for riders at the Taupo base but not as often and the timetable will be different to that published for NelsonMore InfoThe following links will give you more information on Taupo and the Ironman NZ.
