Fringed Hill - Downhill

Devil’s Tail

This is a steep and technical singletrack which has been used in the NZ Downhill Champs several times. The track starts from the Nelson City end of the Fringed Hill carpark. There are a few options on the way down but they all go to the bottom. Not good when wet.

To Third House

This is a technical singletrack downhill with a few quite difficult sections. When you face the bench seat the top of Fringed Hill it is the track on your left (between the seat and the building). When you get to the intersection you can see on the map, turn right to Third House. From Third House take the Dun Mt. Railway back to town.

4WD Road

This is a high-speed thrill which has also been used in the NZ Downhill Champs. Make sure you follow the track to the left not right onto the fire break which becomes too steep to ride.

Not as fast or rough as the 4WD road, but still fast and rough.
